I’m very excited because this is the first time I’m sharing a material I’ve created for a class.
Since I started the course about Creation of materials from ELE Internacional I’ve been creating new things and getting more ideas.
Today I’d like to share this board to practise the possessives which can be used both in online and offline classes.
Activity to practise possessives
The board contains:
- Images of people representing “yo”, “tú”, “él”, “nosotros”, “vosotras” and “ellos”.
- 24 objects
- Examples of sentences
The idea is to get random pairs of “person possessing” and “object possessed”. Then the student creates sentences like
Tengo una casa. Esta es mi casa. Esta casa es mía. Es la mía.
to see both forms of possessives (before and after the noun). Depending on the level they might create more complex sentences, of course.
For online classes I use the numbered board. To get an object, I use a phone app where you can create roulettes. It’s called Decision Roulette by Treebit Technologies. For this activity I created a roulette with 24 numbers.
We start with “yo” and turn the roulette to get an object. The student makes sentences. Then move to “tú” and so on. Alternatively you could use a dice to chose the person (1 = yo, 2 = tú, etc) to make it more random.
If you cannot use an app, you can use a dice and move along the numbers like in the game of the goose.
In person classes
I’ve added a second board without numbers so it can be printed in A4 size and cut as cards. For that you don’t need any dice or roulette. You can just pile the people on one side, the objects on the other, pick two cards and make the sentence.
Do you have ideas of other activities that could be done with this board?
You can download the board here:
This is a free download but if you find it useful you can help me create more material with a small donation.
